The MenART Academy Scholarship Fund is made possible thanks to the philanthropic decision of its patron, Mrs. Alena Viková, and follows the legacy of the legendary teacher Professor Božena Viskupová (1913–2015), who dedicated her life to music education for children and young people, especially in the area of music and movement education. She trained thousands of Czech and Slovak teachers in nursery, primary and pedagogical schools, created curricula for dance and movement work in schools, and authored numerous methodological handbooks still used by secondary and university students today. The scope of her lifelong work is almost inexhaustible and includes educational, professional, and artistic activities in general and specialized music education, including the collection of folk songs, work within the Czech Music Society, and contributions to international cooperation. For her lifelong contribution, Mrs. Viskupová was awarded the J. A. Komenský Medal, 1st Class, by the Minister of Education in 2011.

WHO THE SCHOLARSHIP IS INTENDED FOR

The condition is successful admission to full-time study in a major field at an arts-focused secondary school or university in the United Kingdom. We also support exchanges within the Erasmus program as well as study internships and stays longer than one month. The scholarship fund is open to students of all artistic disciplines — music, visual arts, dance, and drama.

APPLICATION DEADLINES AND CONDITIONS

Applications may be submitted twice a year – by 15 November and 15 January.

The scholarship application must include:

• a student’s motivation letter
• a recommendation letter from the current teacher
• samples of work

The scholarship will be contingent upon:

• submission of proof of acceptance to the selected art school
• submission of a study and activity report after each completed semester

SCHOLARSHIP DECISION

The primary purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support for living expenses related to studying abroad. The amount of the scholarship will be determined individually.

The right to decide on the awarding of the scholarship and its financial amount is reserved by the management of the Scholarship Fund. Applications will be reviewed by a professional committee composed of mentors and the leadership of the MenART Academy. Each applicant will be informed of the result within 45 days of submitting the application.
